Misophonia is when the sufferer feels extreme anxiety and anger when they hear certain sounds (which vary? from person to person), which can include eating, coughing, tapping, and many other noises most people don't notice. The response is involuntary and faster than the speed of thought, and is caused by a negative experience in the past which is linked to the sound or sounds by the subconscious mind.
